Key Parameters

  1. Resistance - Ohms
  2. Resistance Tolerance - +/- Ohms usually in %
  3. Temperature Coefficeint - Resistance vaiation over temperature, usually in ppm
  4. Working Voltage - maximum voltage across the resistor without resistance changing over life by x%
  5. Package - through hole, surface mount, chassis mount
  6. Continuous power rating
  7. Power derating over temperature
  8. Pulse power rating
  9. Thermal Impedance - Rth usually xC°/Watt

A handy rule of thumb guide to determine which transiter package to use for a desired power or voltage.

Note for power ratings over 50% of the device rating, or specific pulse power requirements, specific resistors should be specified and thier datasheets used to detmine the suitability.
